Izalco is always be a great time saver for me. I get my Mexican bbq, menudo, and Salvadoran popusas on Saturday morning and don't have to cook the rest of the weekend. They have reasonable prices and friendly service. It's always a great idea to call in your order before going.
We arrived mid afternoon. It was slow. We worried this somehow reflected the quality, but we were happy the decor looked authentic. The menu includes Salvadoran and Mexican dishes. I tried the pupusas with chicken. The only other time I've had pupusas was from frozen and while they were ok, they didn't prepare me for this. When they arrived, they were light and fluffy looking and we're accompanied by a dish of shredded cabbage, carrots, and sliced jalapenos. The cabbage and carrots were lightly pickled and it was all mixed together with Mexican oregano. I asked and the way to eat them is to top the pupusas with the veggies, the salsa you want and eat them together. The cheese inside was melty delicious and the crunch of the veggies was great. I would order this again and again. I might try more varieties too. The people with me had quesadillas, enchiladas, and I also had a ground beef taco. I had too much food, but the way they were oooing over the rice and beans made me wish I had some too. Don't be like me, order a reasonable amount of food. But go back again. Afterwards, go visit the bakery next door. Oh, the wonderful aroma...
Great food, awesome service and a fairly diverse menu. We will be back for sure!
Pupusas were delicious and cheesy. I live 45 mins away, it was definitely worth the drive. If your ever in the area I would recommend the pupusas.
I had the Bistek Encebollado and my dining partner had the Tortas Augadas and we also ordered some Chicken Tamales (we had a good amount of leftovers). Everything was delicious, the staff was friendly, and we will be going back again!
Great Salvadorian food right here in the quad cities that satisfies you're cravings. Cooked to order so you get fresh hot dishes right out of the kitchen made homemade w/a Latin flare....I recommend this place to anyone that likes to try new flavors as this place definitely won't be a disappoint.

The restaurant is small but the food makes up for it. 100% authentic. The Ox tail soup is delish!
